Title
Gain Analysis Of The Fel Using A Geometrically Focusing Permanent Magnet Undulator
Abstract
The propagation properties of electron beams have been studied on undulators consisting of parabolic-shaped magnets and of alternately shifted magnets; this is the succession of work on undulators having circularly curved magnets or trapezoid/rhomboid shaped magnets. The gain of the FEL was also estimated for these geometrically focusing undulators by a one dimensional simulation code. It was found that for the circularly or parabolically curved undulator an electron beam propagating with a large divergence has a small gain, both positive and negative, due to the large amplitude deviation of the magnetic field of the undulator. © 1993.
