Abstract
Relativistic effects on the Thomas-Fermi model for atoms in a very strong magnetic field are considered. A general calculation of the binding energy is given which does not refer to any specific solution of the equation governing the self-consistent electrostatic potential. © 1993 IOP Publishing Ltd.
