Course and laboratory instructions in power electronics

Abstract

In this paper, the topic of undergraduate and graduate education in the field of power electronics will be presented. Based on several surveys conducted in recent years by the Power Engineering Education Resources Subcommittee, the collected data will be closely examined in order to shed some light into the educational aspects of the field of power electronics. Suggested undergraduate and graduate curriculum in power electronics along with key course contents will be presented. Moreover, the importance of hardware laboratory and Pspice simulation as supporting facilities for effective power electronics education will also be addressed.
