Title
Time Study During Vocational Training
Abstract
Over the years Ukraine evolved a well-developed system of vocational education, consisting of various vocational schools. To graduate from such a school one had to put in 1 to 2 years of study. Vocational school students had to attend lectures several days per week. They also applied their skills in vocational school workshops (apprentice training). At the end of the semester or at the final stage of their education, students underwent on-the-job training directly at the factory. After completion of vocational school, they received a certificate and started to work in industry. The vocational system was responsible for preparing a qualified workforce for industry, where workers could not be educated through on-the-job training. On-the-job training (3 to 6 months) was used only for preparing workers for jobs requiring the lowest qualifications.
