Title
Supervisor Support And Risk Perception: Their Relationship With Unreported Injuries And Near Misses
Abstract
This study examines the relationship that employee perceptions of supervisor support and risk of injury have with unreported employee injuries requiring doctors' attention, first-aid cases, and near misses. Study results indicate that increased employee perceptions of supervisor support for safety are associated with a decrease in the number of unreported injuries needing doctors' attention. Increased risk perceptions were related to higher numbers of unreported injuries needing a doctor's attention and unreported near misses. Risk perception was found to partially mediate the relationship between supervisor support and unreported injuries needing doctors' attention.
