Title
2R Regeneration And Simultaneous Wavelength Conversion Using A Fiber Parametric Amplifier And A Semiconductor Optical Amplifier
Abstract
A 2R regeneration using a fiber parametric amplifier and a semiconductor amplifier was demonstrated. The functionality of eliminating the amplitude noise at bit 0's, was provided by the exponential gain characteristics of the fiber parametric amplifier. From the degraded incoming data with an extinction ratio as low as 5 dB, regenerated signal with 14 dB extinction ratio was obtained. 3.8 dB negative power penalty and simultaneous wavelength conversion with a bandwidth of 16 nm was achieved.
