Title
Evolving Laser Processing Applications
Abstract
This paper is an introduction to the Innovative Applications Session. It reviews the fundamentals of laser processing focusing on the pertinent parameters that can be controlled to optimize the quality of the process. Laser characteristics and processing parameters are discussed in terms of example applications with the view of process optimization. Process parameters for basic applications like drilling, heat treating and welding are examined. Novel and new applications are introduced.
