Abstract
A method for the fabrication of multilayered nanotube probe tips was presented. Catalysts of Fe/Ni alloy nanoparticles were deposited on a silicon substrate. The coated silicon substrate was then processed in a tube furnace in an environment of methane, hydrogen and argon, with the eventual formation of non-fibrous graphitic material on the reactor wall. It was found that the size of the carbon nanotubes was controlled by the nano-catalysts at lower temperatures.
