Title
Timing Jitter In Modelocked Semiconductor Diode Lasers
Abstract
The issue of the timing stability of extended cavity modelocked diode lasers under high repetition rate operation was addressed. In this regime of operation, the designer have the option to employ a harmonically modelocked configuration, owing to the availability of high speed modulators or use a fundamentally modelocked configuration with the added complexity of fabrication of the modulator directly on chip. This paper highlights the performance trade-offs for each mode of operation and offers a simple recipe to achieve robust operation with off the shelf components.
