Title
Mev Proton Generation With A Khz Femtosecond Laser
Abstract
MeV proton generation with a kHz femtosecond laser was demonstrated. A mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser, a regenerative amplifier and a double pass booster provided compressed 50 fs pulses at a wavelength of 780 nm, with a maximum average power of ∼2W. The laser beam was focused onto the jet with a 70 mm focal length lens, and it produced a laser spot size of 10 μm (FWHM). Results indicated that at lower intensities, the angular width of forward-going emission was found to be between 20°-30°, and contained ∼2.6×106 protons.
