Abstract
The Virtual Test Bed (VTB) is a distributed environment for spaceport simulation modeling. This environment is the result of the applications of the High-Level Architecture (HLA) and integration frameworks based on software agents and the extensible Modeling Language (XML). A distributed environment is needed due to the nature of the models, as they represent different operations that can be geographically distributed. This paper presents the integration process and implementation of several models representing the operations taking place at the National Space and Aeronautics Administration (NASA) spaceport, before, during and after a Space Shuttle launch. The following models are integrated: weather model, range model, montecarlo simulation model, control room model, and space shuttle model.
