Abstract
This article summarizes the successful consolidation of MoSi 2-Si 3N 4 (nano/micro) composite using plasma spray forming. A detail characterization of the spray formed bulk nano-component has been performed along its the radius using optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Vickers hardness testing. Relatively higher fracture toughness value was attributed to the retention of the nanostructure throughout the composite. The nanostructured component was further evaluated for high temperature properties and showed good heat resistance to degradation.
