Abstract
Historically, sexual minorities have been labeled as evil and sexual behavior that deviates from the norm established by society often elicits strong negative responses with specific attempts to control or eliminate it. Since our society tends to prefer a heterosexual life-style, same-sex relationships that do not conform to this model can be very threatening. This article discusses the prejudice that occurs from labeling this productive and contributing segment of our population. The myths and misconceptions that prevent the development of a society that is accepting of all human dfferences are explored. © 2005 by The Haworth Press, Inc. All rights reserved.
