Abstract
Cold-spraying of 1100 Al powder particles onto 1100 Al substrate was accomplished using carrier gases 100 vol.% He and a mixture of He-20 vol.% N2. TEM characterization correlates very well the occurrence of dislocations, presence of oxide, and surface instability phenomenon with observed mechanical and corrosion properties of the cold-sprayed coating. © 2005 Acta Materialia Inc.
