Abstract

In this paper we describe the tests to characterize a wireless data transceiver, with emphasis on binary FSK. (Frequency Shift Keying) transceiver, TRF6901 [5] from Texas Instruments, Inc. The performance analysis of the device is done with respect to one of the applications, TRF/MSP430 demonstration and development kit, consisting of two identical boards programmed to communicate using US (United States) ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band frequency at 915 MHz in half-duplex at 38.4 Kbps data rate employing NRZ (Non Return to Zero) base-band coding. The kit employs an inverted F design on-board PCB (Printed Circuit Board) antenna. Our test evaluates the performance of the device with respect to various factors in a free space environment. © 2005 IEEE.
