Title
Complete Destructive Interference Of Partially Coherent Fields
Keywords
Coherence; Interference; Singular optics
Abstract
A three-point source model is used to study the interference of wavefields which are mutually partially coherent. It is shown that complete destructive interference of the fields is possible in such a "three-pinhole interferometer" even if the sources are not fully coherent with respect to each other. An explanation of this surprising effect is given, and conditions necessary for complete destructive interference are stated. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
