Abstract
A new method named catalyst-assisted pyrolysis of polymeric precursor to synthesize single-crystalline Si3N4 nanobelts was studied in this current paper. The process of the method contained three main steps such as cross-linking of polymeric precursor at a low temperature, high-energy ball milling and polymer pyrolysis at a high temperature. The as-synthesized nanobelts were detailed characterization by SEM, XRD, EDS, TEM and HRTEM. The growth mechanism for the single-crystalline Si3N4 nanobelts was proposed.
