Title
Adapting A Model For Literacy Learning To The Learning Of Mathematics
Abstract
This article explores the possibility of applying an effective model for literacy learning to the learning of mathematics so that elementary teachers will be able to infuse what they know to be effective literacy methods into their mathematics teaching. Cambourne's eight conditions of learning are defined and applied to both literacy and mathematics settings. The author concludes that the conditions are necessary when learning mathematics but may not be sufficient.
