Title
Two-Tier Channel Assignment For Wireless Networks With Dynamic Cellular Architecture
Keywords
Cellular networks; Channel assignment; Handoff blocking; Mobile base stations
Abstract
We present a two-tier cellular architecture for wireless networks with dynamic cells, i.e., configurable networks in which base stations are movable. The paper presents the proposed scheme as well as several design enhancements such as channel splitting and reverse handoffs. Compared to the one-tier system, the two-tier scheme has shown better performance at equal amount of power consumption. Channel splitting further improves the performance of the two-tier system.
