Title
Using A Generic Network Model To Represent A Case Network For Evacuation Simulation
Abstract
Communities throughout the world today face tremendous risks from many hazardous events, both natural and man-made. A region's evacuation strategy encompasses a variety of areas and needs, many of these interdependent and interrelated. Primary amongst these is the minimization of total evacuation time, often represented in models as the clearance time estimate (CTE). It is important for emergency managers to know CTE, but resources are scarce. A generic simulation model that approximates a region's CTE has been developed, and can serve as a surrogate for a user-specific network within a specific range of size and population. © 2006 IEEE.
