Title
Broadband Wide-Incident-Angle Reflective Polarization Converter Using Liquid Crystal Films
Keywords
Light efficiency; Liquid crystal film; Polarization converter
Abstract
A global optimization method using genetic algorithm (GA) was developed to design broadband reflective linear polarization converter using a twisted nematic liquid crystal film stacked with a uniaxial A-film. Our design can reach maximum 99.995%, minimum 91.95%, average 96.57% conversion efficiency for the whole visible spectrum for incident angle from 0 to 60 degrees. Such a broadband reflective polarization converter is particularly useful for enhancing the light efficiency of LCD. © 2008 SID.
