Abstract
A dual frequency liquid crystal mixture with high birefringence (Δn=0.292 at 633 nm, 25 °C) and low crossover frequency (<1 kHz at 25 °C) has been developed. We demonstrate 2n phase change at 633 nm with both on and off time less than 1 ms in an electrically controllable phase retarder utilizing this mixture. © 2008 SID.
