12.1: Color Breakup Suppression In Field-Sequential Five-Primary-Color Lcds
Abstract
We propose a method to reduce the color breakup (CBU) of a color-sequential LCD by using five-primary LEDs. Keeping the same sub-frame rate as three-primary LCDs, we can suppress CBU by utilizing proper color sequence and weighting ratios. Its color gamut is 140% NTSC and white brightness increased by ∼13%, as compared to that of three-primary. © 2010 SID.
