Title
'Travel Literature': Early 20Th Century Evolution Of The Odeporicon Genre
Abstract
Between the nineteenth and the twientieth centuries, travel writing evolved into a plurality of compositional forms: from natural and historical descriptions to memorial writings and novels. However, it was through the identification with journalism that its features became stabilized. Entrusting their impressions to the 'third pages' of newspapers, writers contributed both to validate the artistic dignity of journalistic writing, and to draw attention to travel literature. This genre, which has long been considered 'minor', reflects the discovery of otherness, and its crucial role in the development and enrichment of the self.
