Title
Globalization: Setting A New Agenda For Engineering Education
Abstract
Rational for globalization and justification for setting a new agenda in engineering education are discussed. Avenues for meeting the long-term educational needs of the engineering workforce in a globally competitive market place, including revisiting the long-standing engineering science-based curriculum model, embracing diversity, and providing avenues for lifelong learning, are described. A balanced approach for setting an effective education agenda for globally competing workforce, while ensuring compliance with national security polices is examined. This as well as other pros and cons of an inevitable global transformation of the engineering workforce will be discussed. © 2012 IEEE.
