Title
A Comparison Of Microstrip Patch Espar Array And Uniformly-Illuminated Array Performance
Keywords
Beam steering; microstrip antennas; phased arrays
Abstract
A thorough comparison of a 3-element microstrip patch ESPAR and traditionally-fed, uniform illumination phased array antennas operating at 1 GHz is presented. The ESPAR is compared to two arrays employing phase shifters, exhibiting both the close-proximity ESPAR spacing, and a third array with half-wavelength spacing. Performance characteristics including radiation pattern trends, directivity, and efficiency are discussed. © 2012 IEEE.
