Title

Measurement Of The Spur-Free Dynamic Range Of An Analog Link With A Semiconductor Resonant Cavity Interferometric Linear Intensity Modulator

Abstract

A high speed and efficient linear optical intensity modulator has been previously introduced in [1]. The linear transfer function of this modulator, Eq. 1, is inherent in the design of this modulator which stems from the arcsine phase response of an injection-locked resonant cavity with gain [2] placed in one arm of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. T = 1/2 (1 + cos (arcsin (f(t)) - π/2) = 1/2 (1 + f(t)) Eq.1 In this paper, we present a measured spur-free dynamic range (SFDR) of an analog link employing this linear modulator. Link SFDR of ∼101 dB.Hz2/3 is achieved by locking the bias point of the all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer at quadrature. It should be noted that no linearization technique is used. © 2012 IEEE.
