Title
Improvement In The Tandem Rolling Of Hot Metal Sheet Using A New Advanced Control Technique
Abstract
The tandem rolling of hot metal sheet is a highly complex, nonlinear process that presents a difficult control challenge. The hostile hot metal rolling environment exacerbates this challenge, as it precludes the location of certain sensors to measure variables that are important for control. This paper presents a comprehensive model of this process plus the results of efforts toward the development of a novel process controller. The results of simulations with the new controller coupled to the model show the possibility of significant improvement in the quality of the final product.
