Abstract
Applied experimental research is experimental research that applies or extends theory to an identified real-world problem with a practical outcome in mind. In this chapter, we distinguish applied experimental research from more basic theoretical research, discuss the linkages between basic and applied research, and describe practical considerations in conducting applied experimental research.
