Use Of Magnetic Nanoparticles In Microwave Ablation
Keywords
Magnetic nanoparticles; Microwave ablation; Specific absorption rate
Abstract
The use of a sleeve antenna at 10 GHz for microwave ablation is presented. Results for the specific absorption rate (SAR) for the treatment of a 1 cm tumor placed 20 mm from the surface of the liver are presented. To enhance the ablation process, magnetic nanoparticles are introduced in the tumor. Results for the SAR and the temperature profile in the tumor with the nanoparticles are studied. The extent of the ablation zone with and without the nanoparticles is compared.
