Abstract
In Florida, the State College System and the State University System are closely inter-related. The Associate in Science (A.S.) degree is offered at the State Colleges (formerly Community Colleges). A.S. graduates either enter the workforce or progress to a Bachelor of Applied Science. This paper describes the 2+2 pathway that includes the AS in Computer Programming degree leading to the BAS in Software Development degree at the University of Central Florida (UCF). This is a workforce development educational pathway designed by the state colleges in Central Florida, UCF, and the local industry. The overarching goal of the curriculum is to produce graduates who can begin contributing to a software development team immediately upon graduation.
