Abstract
This paper presents a technique for handling Method of Moments (MoM) matrices with high condition numbers, by utilizing a matrix conditioning approach based on the Singular Value-Decomposition (SVD) algorithm. The proposed technique is robust, and it can be applied to a variety of ill-conditioned matrices, regardless of the source of their ill-conditioning. We show, for example, that the proposed technique is capable of handling, with equal ease, MoM matrices that are ill-conditioned either because of internal resonance, or low-frequency breakdown, or even because of poor meshing of multiscale geometries. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the efficacy of the method for several representative problems.
