Abstract
"How often do you get to hear the powerful address of Joshua, as he rallies his troops before the walls of Jericho, in the original ancient Hebrew? Joshua has two objectives: to score a decisive first victory against a soft target (Jericho), and to send a message to every other town in the land of Canaan. Chilling? Brutal? Yes. But the sheer power of the speech transports you back some 3,200 years!" In this video Joshua, dramatized by Professor Kenneth Hanson, addresses his people in ancient Hebrew before attacking the city of Jericho. The Hebrew speech is followed by an English translation. The story is from Joshua 6:16-19.
