Abstract
"Listen to this classic piece of biblical oration, in the original Hebrew, as the conqueror of the land of Canaan, now well on in years, sternly warns his people of the ever-present danger, not of foreign armies, but of assimilation into the surrounding pagan cultures. It’s his way of saying: the price of liberty is eternal vigilance." In this video Joshua, dramatized by Professor Kenneth Hanson, speaks to all the tribes of Israel in ancient Hebrew. The Hebrew speech is followed by an English translation. The story is from Joshua 24:14-15.
