Description
Leaves is a book about the longing of nostalgia; the connection and disconnection, the familiar and unfamiliar, the similarity and difference between the reality and memories. What I remember the most is spending my summer holiday with my cousins, and I believe the implication behind it is the idea of lost childhood. Being an adult in another country, the memories I have about my hometown is fading away, and I believe it is happening to my family too. The memories they have about me is diluting, the old me is changing, the old past is disappearing. Therefore, I think it is important to capture the missing between the old times and now. All the pictures in this book were taken in China, 2018, and I have my cousins and I dressed up like how we used to as a teenager to recreate the moments. The stitched leaf patterns are represented as the thoughts we have. I often miss the people and moments, and it is like how the growth of the leaves occupy the pages. The thoughts are uncontrollable, they grow with unconsciousness, just like how memories come back so often.
He leaves at a season that is full of leaves.
