Description

From the artist statement:

My goal behind the creation of “One Rose” is to showcase the fragility and prestige a woman’s virginity has. Girls grow into woman and in every culture some kind of value is placed on the woman’s virginity. The palm leaf book showcases this by the growth of the rose. The rose suddenly being gone symbolizes how in one moment a woman’s virginity is just gone. The delicate placement of the panels represents the fragility of the hymen. If the book is to be removed the base will tear and never be the same much like a hymen.
