    Resort guests gathered near one of the outdoor dining tables of the Caneel Bay Resort. The tables have been decorated with place settings and drinking glasses. A man is walking in the distance. In the ocean are a sailboat and dinghy. This beach is near the Caneel Bay Resort which as of 2013 was leased to Rosewood Hotels by the United States National Park Service (NPS). The hotel land, which consists of 150 acres, was originally owned by Laurance Rockefeller and located within the Virgin Islands National Park (VINP) on Saint John, United States Virgin Islands. Rockefeller purchased much of the land near the northwest side of the island and later deeded the resort and over 5,000 acres of land to Jackson Hole Preserve, his family trust. In accordance with Rockefeller’s wishes Jackson Hole Preserve deeded the land and later the resort to the United States government in order to create a nature preserve. The VINP which encompasses more than 7,000 acres (more than half of Saint John) is run by the NPS. Slide labeled Dining Room Caneel Bay.
