A steel pan maker is hammering the surface of a steel pan instrument to make its range of sound. This particular steel pan is made from a used steel oil drum. The steel pan, a percussion instrument, originated in Trinidad and Tobago and is one of the country’s national emblems. In the background of the yard are other used steel oil drums, a zinc paneled fence, and piles of wood. Slide labeled Trin. 20.
