Description

A black and white photograph of the girls of Daytona Normal and Industrial School (today Bethune-Cookman University), practicing "vaulting" on the grounds at the college. In the center of the image, two girls hold a pole, and another girl runs to jump over it. In the background, the rest of her classmates gather to wait their turn. They are wearing the school uniform of the time: a long-sleeved white shirt, a ribbon around the neck, a knee-length skirt, stockings, and shoes. In the background are also trees and a wooden fence. Written on the back of the photo is, "The Athletic Club - Vaulting." The photographer of the image is unknown.
