Colton's 1855 Map of Georgia & Florida, with inset plan of the Florida Keys, includes text and statistics on Alabama on the reverse side. Map: "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1855 by J.H. Colton and Co. Prime meridians: Greenwich and Washington, D.C. Map scale [ca. 1:2,600,000], Printed on the back of the map is information on the state of Alabama including: dimensions, astronomical positions, terrain, government, history, and schools. Inscribed in pencil on the top of back page is: purchased from Daniel Newhall 100 East 42nd Street N.Y. ordered by E.O. Avory [sp].
