The letter "J" can be seen on his hat, the initial for the Jacksonville Tarpons baseball team.; Lee Gooch played baseball for Sanford and Jacksonville in 1916, and went on to play for the majors.; He played outfield for a total of 115 games, had 405 at-bats, 116 hits, for a .286 batting average.
