Description

Three men use a horse drawn wagon to haul logs in Slavia, c.1915. Left to right: Michael Dinda, Sr., Michael Dinda. Jr., and twin brother, John, visiting from college. All are wearing hats and long sleeves to protect themselves from the sun. The ground over which the wagon must travel appears to be very rocky and uneven. Likely the logs were being transported to a sawmill to provide wood for the houses built by the early settlers. Snapshot, courtesy: Robert Dinda, was scanned at SLLS in 2001. Image appeared in Like a Mustard Seed: The Slavia Settlement (1982).
