Description
The wedding of Rev. Stephen M. Tuhy to Miss Olga Pankuch took place at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA on June 7, 1936. Officiant was the father of the groom, Rev. Stephen Tuhy, Sr. In a somewhat damaged old snapshot (found in 2012), the newly weds stand at the far right. Other members of the wedding party are unidentified, but it is known that the group included one or more of the groom's brothers. Rev. Tuhy had very recently accepted the call to become the first Pastor of St. Luke's church. He brought his new bride to Slavia to live in the new parsonage built for them by the congregation. It was erected adjacent to the space on which the first permanent (brick) church would be constructed in 1939. Sepia (damaged) photo scanned at SLLC on Epson 10000XL, November, 2012.
