Description

Following the 10AM worship service on June 2, 1991, St. Luke's congregation gathered outside, near the original wooden church (now expanded and standing to the east of the 1957 brick church),for a Groundbreaking Ceremony, to mark the beginning of the construction of a large new sanctuary and facilities. The shape of a cross had been painted on the grass to mark the place where the first shovels of soil would be turned. Gathered from left to right were Vicar Jeff Meyer, congregation President, Richard Sawyer, Rev. E.J. Rossow. To their left (not specifically identified) were the 12 winners of the contest the congregation had held to determine which members of the congregation would assist in using the honorary shovels. They are: 1.Charlie Beasley 2. Caroljo Creighton 3.Beverly Delemos 4. Marlyn Farrington 5.Thomas Farrington 6.Rachel Lukas 7. Rebecca Megahee 8.Greg Naruta 9. Zachary Schendel 10. Linda Sia 11. Jennifer Smith 12. Bob Woodman. Following the ceremony, the members enjoyed an afternoon of food, games, contests and music
