Description

The entire congregation was invited to celebrate the wedding of Walter and Judy Duda on June 14, 1959. Because Slavia was still a somewhat isolated agricultural community, the largest available space to have a wedding reception or other large event was the auditorium of St. Luke's first permanent school (built about 10 years earlier). A "receiving line" in which each guest offered personal greetings to the wedding party was the custom of that time. So the loggia of St. Luke's School...the covered walkway leading to the auditorium entrance... was used for this purpose.
