Description
The first (frame) home built by Katie and John Duda, Sr. in late 1930s was located on the original 40 acre Duda farm on Mikler Road. But the house in this photo, unfortunately, burned to the ground in the middle of the night, c.1950, and the family was thankful to escape with their lives and just a few belongings. A large new block home was built on the same lot soon afterwards. This house stood until 2005 when it had to be demolished because of extensive damage from a a huge oak tree that toppled onto the house, apparently because of fatal damage inflicted on the tree by Hurricane Charlie in 2004. The site of the original house is currently an empty lot.
