Description

Mary Rubin interviews Christine Parsons, the Program Manager for the Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute, via Zoom about the impact of COVID-19 on her life. Christine faced many tragedies, beginning with her daughter in the hospital with a blood clot in March when COVID-19 was beginning to become more prevalent. In April, she took a trip to New Jersey to take care of her mom, who unfortunately passed away. Despite having been aware of her mother’s last wishes, Christine’s plans for her mother’s last days and, subsequently, her funeral were different due to COVID-19. For example, Christine’s mother’s last rites were streamed on FaceTime. In May, Christine’s brother passed away as well. Reflecting on the losses in 2020, Christine remains positive knowing that 2020 “just happened to be one of those years, it’s not going to last forever.”
