Abstract

Panel Program by Barbara Tierney, Missy Murphey and Patti McCallUCF Libraries initiated a Subject Librarian (SL) service model in spring 2013 in an effort to increase positive impacts on student and faculty success with regard to teaching, learning, research, and publishing. There is a new emphasis on librarians getting out of the library building, visiting their assigned academic departments, participating in faculty and student meetings, and creating partnerships with academic faculty and students. The new service model also emphasizes enhanced visibility and accessibility of the librarians through a high profile SL Web site http://library.ucf.edu/SubjectLibrarians/ , a digital signage system that features the SLs, and proactive SL outreach via customized e-newsletters, research guides and speaking engagements. SLs are engaging in research, publishing, and presenting with their assigned academic faculty and proactively partnering with UCF academic and student support units.Barbara Tierney (UCF Libraries Head of Research & Information Services) and frontline UCF Subject Librarians Missy Murphey (Business) and Patti McCall (Science) will discuss the how-tos and strategies of Subject Librarian partnerships with faculty and student-focused units such as:The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Blackstone Launchpad Program serves UCF students who are interested in exploring entrepreneurial career options.
