Abstract
The interface stress distributions arising in linearly elastic cylindrical pins sliding against a flat rigid counterface are considered in this paper. Coulomb friction is assumed, and the interface pressure distribution arises by virtue of a displacement applied to the far end of the pin. Various aspect ratios are studied in order to assess stiffness effects in pin-on-disc tribotesting.
