    Abstract

The self-frequency doubling crystal NYAB has been investigated for the thermal properties of second harmonic generation of 1.064 mum. The temperature dependence of the phase-matching angle theta(m) for type I frequency doubling has been measured in the range from 23-degrees-C to 133-degrees-C. The phase-matching angle varies with the temperature at a rate of dtheta(m)/dT = (2.60+/-0.16) x 10(-5) rad/-degrees-C. This quantity can also be calculated from the ratio of the angular acceptance width to the temperature acceptance width. The measured angular and temperature widths are DELTAthetaL = 0.64 mrad cm and DELTATL = 26-degrees-C cm, respectively. The ratio of these two widths is 2.46 X 10(-5) rad/-degrees-C which agrees with the measured dtheta(m)/dT value.
